"Whatever the facts of the matter are found
to be, the failure to follow procedures and the imposition of immediate
sanctions on students who may be innocent is unacceptable. 'Cura
personalis'??? Get real!!! The circumstances of the alleged offenses are
unlikely to occur again. Hence, the imposition of penalties without procedural
protection for alleged offenders and those who were not involved in any fracas
at all is NOT cura personalis."

The petition protesting the initial, punitive treatment of accused students, which was sent to Fordham President Joseph McShane on May 1, now has over 1650 signatures (and you can still sign it). Many signers added passionate and powerful comments with their signatures. Those comments will be posted here, anonymously or attributed, depending on what the signer gave permission to do.
